On May 6, 2025, Jiarong Technology engineer Mr. Lv Xiaohui arrived alone in Mozambique to undertake the installation and commissioning of equipment for a seawater desalination project. This marked his third solo mission abroad, having previously completed installations for Jiarong equipment in Colombia and Hanoi, Vietnam. Facing multiple challenges—technical hurdles, parts shortages, and an unfamiliar environment—he consistently leveraged his expertise and unwavering dedication to successfully commission the equipment and serve the client, laying a solid foundation for the project's advancement.
1. Self-Reliance: Solving the Parts Shortage Puzzle
Upon the arrival of the mobile desalination units and peripheral equipment after thousands of kilometers in transit, Lv Xiaohui immediately conducted an unpacking inspection. As the list of transport-damaged and missing parts grew, his brow furrowed. He knew sourcing replacements locally would be far harder than in a small town back home. Mozambique's resource scarcity meant procured parts were often the wrong size, non-standard, or of poor quality. After days of futile searching and with client approval, he swiftly adapted his strategy:
· Modifying existing parts through cutting and processing to meet equipment needs.
· Reusing parts salvaged from other idle equipment.
· Coordinating with the client to borrow spare parts from other projects.
Through ingenious adjustments, he overcame the parts shortage, breaking free from material constraints that threatened the timeline.
2. Independently Overcoming Technical Barriers
Some peripheral equipment was supplied by other manufacturers. Without prior technical training on these systems, Lv Xiaohui relied on his solid environmental engineering expertise and sense of responsibility. He meticulously studied technical documents and conducted repeated trials, gradually mastering the operational logic. This cleared the path for seamless system commissioning, embodying the Jiarong team's service philosophy: "From Delivering Equipment to Delivering Solutions."
3. Racing Against Time with Cross-Border Collaboration
Under pressure from Mozambique's strict visa enforcement (with overstay risks including detention) and challenging local conditions, Lv Xiaohui worked against the clock. However, local labor efficiency, constrained by labor regulations limiting daily productive hours, became a hurdle—tasks planned for one day often took three or four. Undeterred, he proactively collaborated with the client, extending his own working hours, often working late into the night to ensure commissioning stayed on track, all while strictly adhering to local laws, upholding Jiarong's commitment to compliant international operations.
4. Client-Centric Responsibility: Going the Extra Mile
Further challenges emerged during the project: compatibility issues between different equipment and substandard materials procured by the client. Even after exhausting his hypertension medication and experiencing physical discomfort, Lv Xiaohui remained on-site to resolve issues. When equipment from another company on-site malfunctioned after their engineer departed (due to visa expiry), he proactively stepped in. He assisted the client with fault analysis and helped find solutions, ensuring the equipment could restart. This proactive spirit of solving the client's problems earned him their highest praise.
5. Embodying the Corporate Mission: One Engineer's Impact
From the port of Maputo in Mozambique to Jiarong Technology headquarters in Xiamen, Fujian, Lv Xiaohui's story is a microcosm of countless frontline engineers. They may not perform earth-shattering feats, but through their tenacity ("solve any problem") and ownership ("the client's issue is my issue"), they live the Jiarong mission: "Build Excellence, Empower Customers, Protect the Environment." Seawater desalination technology alleviates water scarcity crises, making this project profoundly significant for water-stressed Mozambique. His professionalism and dedication not only ensured the technology's successful deployment but also strengthened the Sino-Mozambican cooperation bond—a testament to the mutual trust fostered through years of economic and technical partnership.
A lone expedition, embodying Jiarong's spirit of "Commitment to Mission Success." Adapting to local realities, showcasing the wisdom of Chinese enterprises operating globally.
Lv Xiaohui's actions prove: Behind every quality project lies the sweat and innovation of countless technicians forging paths in unfamiliar territory. It's a microcosm of Chinese enterprises fulfilling their commitment to sustainable development.
When Jiarong engineers return to Mozambique this July, the windswept project site will surely witness the next chapter in an ever more complete "Jiarong Story."
